New MU Weather Tower Measures Urban Possibilities of Wind Power
COLUMBIA, MO 7.13.07---Researchers working for the Wind Energy Study and the joint cooperative for the Center for Atmospheric and Agricultural Experiment Research Organization with Lincoln University recently installed a 10-meter weather tower in Sanborn Field on the MU campus. First Conclusive Report on Wind Energy Study
COLUMBIA, MO 7.3.07---Harvesting wind for the use of alternative energy is feasible in Missouri, says Rachel Redburn with her thesis entitled "A Tall Tower Wind Investigation of Northwest Missouri". Although more data is needed to look at seasonal variations, the accuracy of wind maps produced for the state of Missouri, and the full picture of the low-level jet, promising results have been found.
