General Discussion:
Warm temperatures are coming to an end, at least for the weekend thanks to an approaching cold front. Weak forcing with the front may promote some isolated showers and thunderstorms but nothing in the way of organized convection is anticipated. Temperatures will be 10-15 degrees below average following the front making for a pleasant game day and weekend.

Key Messages:
- Showers and isolated thunderstorms early Friday morning. No severe weather is expected.
- A notable cold front brings a much needed cool down into the weekend
- High pressure sets in keeping things cool and dry for game day and beyond
The ebbs and flows of weather, from a stretch of above average temperatures to an incoming blast of chilly air thanks to this approaching cold front. Temperatures have been upwards of degrees above average (low 80s) but this front will bring a brief fall crisp with high 10-15 degrees below average and lows approaching 20 degrees below average (mid 60s). A large upper-level trough is sliding to our north and is our responsible party for the cold front swinging through the area. Moisture ahead of the front is lackluster and weak upper-level divergence doesn’t support anything organized developing keeping it scattered in nature. Limited upper-level moisture will restrict development to right along the front with sinking air quickly settling in behind leaving us dry and cool for Friday.
That trough continued to deepen across the eastern US giving them an even stronger blast of cold air and repeated rounds of rain and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, we are stuck with a northwest flow keeping things cool but not cold and dropping dewpoints further cementing the lack of precipitation through the weekend. In response to the trough to our east, ridging continues to plague the west where they continue to break temperature records after what was already a record warm and dry summer. We begin to see the influence of this high pressure as we move into the late weekend but future forecasters will have more on that as it stretches beyond our forecast period.
Gameday is setting up to be a beautiful day for Mizzou Vs the Buffalo Bulls game. Temperatures at the start of the game will be in the low 70s but with the loss of daylight they will quickly fall bottoming out in the mid 40s by Sunday morning. Winds will be weak but steady out of the north so a jacket may be worthwhile for the later half of the game.
