Key Messages:
- Following the passage of a cold front yesterday, high temperatures will remain around average for this time of year (mid 70’s) for the next day or so with lows staying in the mid to upper 50s.
- A high pressure dome will keep our skies clear, leading to high confidence that dry conditions will persist into next week.
A dome of high pressure at the surface has slid in from the west behind a cold front that passed through the area yesterday. Subsidence associated with this high pressure will keep skies clear allowing temperatures to build during the day, reaching the mid to upper 70s. As the high pressure center propagates eastward, our winds at the surface will become dominantly southerly, allowing for even warmer temperatures in the low to mid 80s heading into the weekend.
An upper level trough will dig into the Great Lakes region on Friday. The associated cold front should remain weak, and is expected to pass through the area during midday on Friday. A lack of moisture and overall divergence aloft leads to an extremely low chance of precipitation over the weekend. Dry air in the low to mid levels will also keep cloud cover at bay on Friday.
