Key Messages

  • A stable atmosphere will promote quiet conditions throughout the week with no chances of precipitation in sight.
  • Lots of sunshine expected due to the high pressure system, expect temperatures to increase later in the week.

Today marks a noticeable shift from the weather of the past couple of days as the major upper level trough that was dominating our weather patterns recently moved out and high pressure moves in from the southwest. This shift has resulted in today being significantly cooler than the last few days although these fall conditions will not stick around long as the approaching high brings warmer temperatures back to the area throughout the week.

Our conditions for the first half of this week will be quite consistent with a clear sky and temperatures returning to the mid to upper 70s and into the middle/lower 80s as we move into the weekend. This gradual warming will accompany a shift in wind direction as we see our current, stable, northwesterly winds shift into a less consistent, west to southwest component as the major pressure systems shift across the CONUS. A significant trough over the great lakes region and Canada, which has been the dominant force in our winds lately, will be moving off to the northeast overnight and into Tuesday making way for a small positively tilted trough to form ahead of the approaching positively tilted ridge.

With the departure of the upper level ridge we will see a weak low-level high settle into the region promoting the warming temperatures and clear skies that we can expect to see throughout the rest of this week. While the rest of this work week will be fairly quiet, future forecast shifts should look forward to this weekend and the cold front that is expected to move through this Sunday.
