General Discussion: 

The line of storms will continue to wrap up and move east this evening. As clouds continue to linger behind the line, a few scattered showers can not be ruled out. Later this evening a cold front is expected to push through central Missouri bringing cooler and drier conditions. These conditions will continue into early weekend time.

• Rain will wrap up this evening leaving behind dense clouds and a few sprinkles.
• A cold front will continue to move east over the next couple hours transitioning winds from the south to the north.
• Dry and seasonal temperatures will persist through the rest of the week.

Current radar imagery depicts prefrontal showers are ongoing across east-central Missouri. Clouds will continue to linger behind this storm system and a few scatted showers can not be ruled out behind the line. These clouds will continue to leave the CWA cloudy and damp through the early morning hours on Thursday.

An upper-level trough currently sits with it’s axis positioned just to the west along the border of Missouri and Kansas. This trough will persist to the east overnight allowing for an upper-level ridge to build in. This ridge will be be in place over the CWA through Friday. As this trough transitions towards the east it will allow for moisture to decrease as well and will leave behind drier upper-level conditions. A surface low-pressure system associated with the aforementioned trough is currently positioned in northeast Kansas with a cold front stretching towards southern Texas. This cold front is expected to make an appearance early overnight tonight. The passage of this front will help transition the winds from southerly to northwesterly. This wind shift will assist in cooler and drier air to enter the CWA. Behind the passing of this cold front a high-pressure system will enter the region and will allow for clouds to decrease as subsidence dominates the area leaving behind near seasonal temperatures for most of the week (Avg. HI: 56, LO: 37). Throughout the day on Friday, the surface high-pressure system will begin to move east across Missouri and allow for the winds to shift back to southerly, permitting for warmer conditions on Friday (60s). These southerly winds will enable for the increase in moisture and cloud cover on Friday night into the weekend.
