General Discussion:
While there may have been some frost this morning, that trend will not continue this weekend as lows stay well above freezing and highs get all the way back into the low to mid 60s Friday and Saturday, and into the low 70s on Sunday. While most of the weekend will be fairly sunny, clouds roll in for Saturday night and bring a chance of rain (50%). The rain won’t linger and Sunday will see a suuny sky by the afternoon. Should be a nice weekend to get out and enjoy that spring weather!

Key Messages:
- Chance for rain Saturday night. (50%)
- Temperatures get back to climatology on Saturday and above by Sunday, with highs in the mid 60s and low 70s respectively. (avg. high 64°F)
Both the NAM and GFS were used in the making of this forecast as there were no major discrepancies between the two.
At 250mb, an omega block will begin to set up over the CONUS, with the ridge axis directly through Missouri. This omega block will not live up to its name as the western low pressure system will rapidly move east with the jet, destroying the block. The jet stream will remain in the southern CONUS for the duration of the forecast period, with campus on the northern edge.
On Friday, there will be a lack of moisture throughout the atmosphere, meaning clouds will be few and far between. This is the one day that the omega block will do any blocking, which will give us a sunny sky and allows for a big warm up compared to the freezing temperatures seen on Friday morning. Highs will be in the low 60s. Friday night sees a few more stray clouds roll into the area, though nothing significant. Low temperatures will be in the upper 30s, it is unlikely any areas will freeze.
Saturday will see a similar story as Friday, at least during the day. The sky will be mostly sunny during day, as the ridge will still be over Missouri though moving away. Highs in the area will be in the mid 60s. Saturday night is when things get more interesting. The low pressure system that had been out west brings in energy, and combined with a very strong low level jet, gives a good chance to see rainfall Saturday night and early Sunday. Rainfall totals will not be more than one to two tenths of an inch. Lows that night will be in the upper 40s as the clouds will help to trap in the heat.
Sunday morning will see the clouds linger as the low will move out of the area. Clouds will depart by the afternoon, leaving a sunny sky and a warm day. Highs will be in the low 70s.
Future forecasters should monitor Monday’s cloud cover to determine if the eclipse will be visible.
