General Discussion:
Temperatures will be able to reach the high 70s as clouds will begin to filter in by the evening tonight. Overcast conditions will continue through the weekend due to moisture from Hurricane Helene. Rain chances would be minimal (less than 0.01″) as we are on the edge of Helene’s moisture influence.

Key Messages:
-Helene’s moisture will bring overcast sky conditions with minimal rain chances
-High temps will peak in the high 70s with breezy conditions Friday
The aforementioned cutoff low will combine with Helene causing a Fujiwara effect. The abundant moisture will remain just that as vorticity and omega are both negligible in our area. The bulk of the moisture and lift will be affecting southeast Missouri with rain chances increasing as you move into that region. As a result we’ll be socked into cloud cover. Friday and Saturday temps will hold out in the mid 70s and lows in the upper 50s. HREF probabilities of wind gusts exceeding 30 mph is 80%, so breezy conditions are expected on Friday. Rain chances are minimal with HREF probabilities of exceeding measurable rainfall at 10-20%. Cloudy conditions will last into Saturday evening with future shifts tracking clearing and return to sunshine.
Pleasant weather caused by weak ridging will be ending as Hurricane Helene moves into the Mid-Mississippi River Valley. Highs will peak in the 70s since clouds won’t move in until tonight with lows remaining around the upper 50s. The cutoff low in place over the lower Ohio river valley will combine with Helene as she makes landfall and surges upward into the southeast. The strongest effects we will feel in our area will be cloudy sky conditions tonight into the weekend.
