Key Messages

  • Sunny skies return as a subtle ridge moves across Missouri
  • A cold front is expected to move through the area Tuesday and cooler high temps (70s) come with it

At 250mb, there is currently a ridge situated over southwestern Missouri this will eventually move off to our east as the day goes on. We then move into a zonal flow pattern for Tuesday with winds from the west until the cold front moves through our area Tuesday evening followed by a ridge. Moving down to 500mb, as the cold front moves through we see little instability due to the ridge and sinking air that moves in quickly after.

Looking at 700 we see little to no moisture for Monday through Wednesday due to the low pressure off to our east pulling all of that moisture away from our area. At 850mb, there is a high pressure system over the Oklahoma panhandle and Texas border. This is pushing all of the moisture out of our area to the south bringing clear skies and sunshine.

Clear skies and sunshine will continue through the first half of the work week and temperatures will be in the 70s to 80s. The low on Tuesday will be chilly (40s) for the first time this fall due to the cold front passing through Tuesday evening.
