Key Messages:

  • Temperatures will remain above seasonal for the remainder of the forecast period.

Current visible satellite imagery depicts a light layer of cloud cover over Missouri, as daytime high temperatures reach into the upper 80s. A high pressure system presently to the northeast of the CWA and southerly winds are contributing to these current conditions.

An ongoing ridge will continue to hover over the central CONUS as a trough sits on either side of the aforementioned ridge. The ridge will continue to sit in place throughout the remainder of the forecast period. The associated high-pressure system will remain in place with the situated ridge and will continue to allow for calm weather conditions with above seasonal temperatures. Models are forecasting Wednesday high temperatures in the upper 80s (Avg. High 80) with mostly sunny cloud conditions. Thursday high temperatures are expected to climb even further into the low 90s, as weak WAA is ongoing with southerly winds.

By Thursday evening, a trough will push to the northeast and will present the region with rain chances. However, rain is expected to stay to the north of the CWA due to a lack in moisture and forcing. With rain chances at a minimal. cloud cover will build into the area in the overnight hours on Thursday into Friday morning. Overnight cloud cover will keep low temperatures around 10 degrees above seasonal averages (Avg. Low 58) as radiative cooling is minimized.
