Key Messages:

  • Clouds will begin to clear up during the overnight hours on Friday making way for clearer skies throughout the weekend.
  • An air of high pressure will be in charge of the warm and dry conditions throughout the weekend.

This morning very faint scattered rain chances cleared out of Mid-Missouri leaving lingering cloud cover for the day on Friday. Clouds are shown throughout the Eastern part of the state on Satellite. A very deep positively tilted trough was to blame in the upper-levels around 300mb. This trough will begin to crawl to east, situating the Midwest in a ridge. An associated surface high currently located near the Iowa-Nebraska border will begin to impact our weather this afternoon through Sunday. As this area of high pressure moves over Missouri it will allow our winds to transition from the north to the south. These southerly winds will aid in a warming trend Saturday through Sunday. As this area of high pressure builds over Missouri, it will cause surface wind gusts to increase to the upper teens to low 20s.

Sunday our next weather making makes a presence as a deep surface ridge and surface low make its appearance. An associated cold front will tip toe towards Missouri though the evening Sunday. This cold front will cause prefrontal compressive warming helping raise our temperatures 15 degrees above average on Sunday (Avg. High: 66). Future forecasters should watch the progression of this front as rain chances could be likely to end the weekend and start next week.
