General Discussion:
The early portion of this week will be a tale of two systems as they both will have some impact to our weather. Temperature variability will also be a key feature of this week with the pressure systems. Chances for rain cannot be ruled out Wednesday evening into the overnight hours.

Key Messages:
- Two pressure systems will drive the weather for the end of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
- A cold front passage contributes to the drying out and clearing in the region Tuesday into Wednesday.
- Precipitation chances will return by the evening of Wednesday.
Technical Discussion:
The weather in mid-Missouri for the early part of this week is expected to be rather variable compared to weeks past. Aloft, the remnants of a low-pressure system and an accompanying trough are primarily responsible for the broken sky conditions experienced for much of the day. Attached to the low is a cold front, which is the primary driver for clearing during the overnight hours of tonight and into Tuesday morning. As a ridge replaces the trough for the duration of Tuesday into Wednesday, it will begin gradually sliding eastward, allowing for some moisture return and lift to enter. This, in turn, sets up the possibility for light, stratiform precipitation.
In the mid-levels, the cold front passage will continue to keep the region mostly dry while allowing more intense winds to gradually enter ahead of an ensuing warm front. As a result, the National Weather Service has begun monitoring for an increasing fire weather risk as the dry out will reduce humidity levels and increasing winds can carry any embers down range. The primary factor limiting rain chances is the lack of a forcing mechanism. Confluence aloft and down to the surface on Tuesday is the explanation for lack of lift, although there will be enough for clouds to condense and cover the sky on Wednesday. Future forecast groups should monitor for the end of the week, as more intense moisture return could make an appearance as well as increased instability.
