Currently, there is split flow at 250mb to the North and South of the CWA, with a lack of divergence of the area hinting at calmer conditions throughout Friday. RH values at 700mb and 850mb stay below 70%, influencing a lack of cloud cover. A surface-level low-pressure system currently resides over eastern Nebraska, with a warm front draping over northern Missouri. WWA behind the warm front, along with a lack of cloud cover increasing diurnal heating, will raise the high temperature to 90°F for Friday.

Saturday’s main focus will be the impacts of hurricane Isaias. Conditions are reliant upon the track of Isaias, as currently it’s projected to stay eastward of Missouri as it moves from the Gulf. The hurricane will advect upper-level moisture (>70%) increasing cloud cover beginning Saturday 21z. Columbia is expecting no rainfall, with the track having the greatest impact on the southeastern CONUS. Beginning Sunday 15z, moisture will begin to move out of the area allowing cloud cover to decrease overnight. Temperatures will begin to decrease with the Saturday night low dropping down to 57°F. 

Future forecasters should monitor the track of Hurricane Isaias to determine any changes in rainfall amounts for Columbia.
