Dense fog is a concern for the mornings of Friday and Saturday. Cloud cover this weekend should prevent temperatures from rising into the 90’s. A small (30%) chance of rain for Sunday could bring less than 0.2”.

Key Messages: 

• Surface moisture (>90%) and weak surface winds will induce dense fog in portions of Northern Missouri on Friday and Saturday morning. 
• A small (30%) chance of rain for Sunday evening could bring less than 0.2” of rainfall. 

Currently, surface winds are weak (less than 5mph) and humidity is high (93%). Because of this, morning fog is expected in parts of Northern Missouri with denser fog located near valleys or creeks. 850-mb moisture (>80%) will be enough to induce low level cloud cover in the beginning of the day, with some breakage occurring later in the day; with this cloud cover, diurnal heating is limited keeping high temperatures in the low-to-mid 80s. A mostly clear sky overnight Friday will allow for temperatures to drop to the low-to-mid 60s.

Saturday morning, beginning 9z, cloud cover will begin to build in the area. Additionally, the lack of surface wind and dewpoints in the mid 60s bring back the risk of dense fog for Saturday morning. An increase of moisture at the 700mb level (>80%), aided with southerly flow will create an increase of cloud cover throughout the day Saturday and into Saturday night. With this southerly flow, mild WAA will influence temperatures into the upper 80s. 

Moisture profiles (>80%) throughout the low-to-mid levels will last throughout the day Sunday. Additionally, omega values will begin to increase starting Sunday 12z. This lift, alongside our increased moisture, brings a small (30%) chance of rain, with no more than 0.2” expected. Discrepancies between model guidance (GFS and NAM) make it difficult for exact timing of rainfall to be pinpointed. 

Future forecasters should monitor rainfall timing for Sunday.
